[2009-03-24] Question -   Have you considered moving the time up or to an evening hour during the week?

MoE Response:  Yes. In February 2007, the Men of Emmaus offered a once per month evening session. They met from 7pm - 8pm on the 4th Wednesday of the month, but the session was halted after 9 months due to lack of participation. There were never more than 5 people at the alternate evening meetings, and all those that showed up were the same men that showed up for the Saturday morning meetings. To date, experience has shown that starting early on a Saturday morning is the best time to meet because if it were later in the day, there would be the very legitimate excuss of having family obligations, whereas there are few, if any, kid activities going on between 7:30 and 9am on a Saturday morning. It just becomes a sacrifice to get up and meet with the guys...

"Come...Follow Me" (Mt 19:21)

If you are a man looking to deepen your knowledge of the Catholic faith, pray with other men, discuss issues that face men in our society today, or just want to meet other Catholic men from St. Martin's and around the area, then you will want to come to the Men of Emmaus meetings!

Every Saturday morning, from 7:30 - 9am, the Men of Emmaus meet in the basement of St. Martin's church in Gaithersburg Maryland, to pray, reflect on Sacred Scripture and the Catechism of the Catholic Church, share our experiences and encourage one another to be better men.

Free coffee and donuts are available at every meeting, as are assorted resources for developing your knowledge and love of the truth that Christ entrusted to His Church - the Holy Catholic Church. These resources include CDs, DVDs, books and pamphlets, not to mention a wealth of knowledge and experience from our parish priests and other men committed to serving and instructing others in the faith.

Every Saturday, men from around the area gather together to strengthen and encourage one another. There is no obligation to stay or speak. How much you participate is entirely up to you.
